The Joy Of Saltwater Fishing In Florida

By Jared Stoneman

There are many hot spots to fish at in Florida, this is why it is considered to be one of the best places to fish in the world. With places like the Florida Keys, Tampa Bay and the everglades, why would you not want to fish in Florida.

Some of the fish you can expect to catch in Florida are grouper, snapper, snook, sheepshead, redfish, sharks, along with many others. Although fishing offshore can be wonderful and offer big fish, you can get good results fishing inshore also.

Some of the options you might want to look into if you do not have a boat is fishing from a pier. There are many fishing piers up and down both coasts of Florida, and they all provide excellent fishing for anglers year round. Some of them will charge you money some of them wont, one of the more famous fishing piers in Florida lies in Fort Desoto.

Surf fishing also provides excellent fishing if the conditions are right. Some of the conditions that I consider to be good are if there are rocks, and not many people swimming around. Also it is best to fish from the beach when the water is not extremely choppy.

For anglers that are into night fishing inshore, then I would have to say that a dock with a light pointed to the water makes spectacular fishing. If you have access to a dock that is anywhere from central Florida down, then there are sure to be some snook lurking around at night time.

You also might want to consider bridge fishing, one famous bridge that is great to fish from in Florida is the old Sunshine Skyway Bridge. They have bait stands and tackle shops on both sides for the saltwater angler. If you are in the Tampa Bay area and do not have a boat, this will be your best option next to fishing the Fort Desoto piers.

So if you thought that you needed a boat to catch fish in Florida, you can think again. I have had great success inshore fishing in Florida fishing from all of the types of structures that I have mentioned in this article.
