Lets take the analogy of a cricket team. There are 11 players in each team in the match. All players are talented and super fit. Everyone can throw and catch the ball. Everyone is a hard hitter. However some are more skilled at balling. Others are more skilled at batting. Not many runs will be made and the match will be lost if the baller is going to do the job of the batter. Not knowing what type of a trader you are can make or break your trading career. Determining your trading style is very important right from the beginning.

In general there are three type of trading styles: Position trading, swing trading and day trading. Investing in the currency markets or stock markets is also the same. It depends on your personality makeup what type of trading is best suited to you. You need to know what type of trading style is for you.

Position Trading is generally the buy and hold strategy of investing in stocks over a long haul. In currency trading, position trading means you are in a trade for many months. Usually positions traders are in a trade for a large long term move like when you carry trade. Options traders can also be position traders through covered calls.

Swing trading is possibly the most dynamic of the three types of trading. A swing trader is able to switch up holding times quickly as the market demands. Swing traders take advantage of technical and fundamental analysis. Swing Trading means taking short term positions in anticipation of quick market movements over a series of days or weeks.

Day trading is not easy. It is certainly not a hobby. In Day Trading, you attempt to capitalize on intraday movements with the markets often trading on momentum and news. Day traders are also known as Kings of Stress. Sometimes when the positions warrants holding for a longer period, day trading can become swing trading!

Day trading is ideal for those who are able to handle erratic market movements while actually also having time to monitor the positions throughout the day. You should note that if you dont have time to watch your trades every moment, you should not think of day trading. Day trading is the riskiest of the three trading styles.

Know That Swing Trading Is a Better Alternative to Day Trading Day trading hardly ever ends up well especially if the trader has no previous professional trading experience. Only 10% of the day traders succeed. Many people are attracted to the glamour and excitement of day trading. Most day trader usually blow up their accounts and fade away soon.

Swing trading can be on the other hand a much more effective trading style especially if you are a newer trader. By holding positions overnight and even for a few weeks, you can expose less money for larger moves. If you are a new trader, think about it for a moment.

Sharpe Heads For The Throne

Well known Sharpe actor Sean Bean, the also stared as Boromir in Lord of the Rings has been announced for a major role the HBO planned series 'A Game of Thrones' which is an adaptation of George RR Martin popular 'Song of Fire and Ice' series of fantasy books.

No date has been set for screening the pilot as yet, and there is no commitment from HBO to a full series either, but with a Serious cast list headed up by Sean Bean, this project has got to be taken seriously.

Sean bean has been cast in lead role of Eddard Stark, who is a Lord who finds himself acting as advisor to the ruthless royal family. Other cast members already confirmed to feature in the Pilot include Kit Harrington, Jack Gleeson, Harry Lloyd, and Peter Dinklage, with more key roles still to be announced.

The series is been adapted and produced by David Benioff and Dan Weiss. David Benioff has recently suggested a 'crappy' tagline for the project could be, "The Sopranos in Middle-earth", which must get you thinking. If the series is true to the books plot elements should contain a spot of conspiracy, child murder, incest, corruption, conspiracy, a rival claimant to the throne across the sea, the still-festering legacy of a civil war 20 years before, a growing threat in the North and did I say conspiracy? We will see a show which is much grittier than previous fantasy adaptations Sean Bean has starred in.

Production is due to begin in Northern Ireland in October 2009, at Paint Hall Studios in Belfast. It is also rumoured that the BBC will have a financial involvement in the series in a similar way they did with HBO's Rome series.

Is Hockey Still A Major Sport?

Not very long ago, hockey was right up there with NFL Football, NBA Basketball and Major League Baseball as one of the most popular sports in the US. The other three are still going strong, with the NFL still dominant in the American sports scene.

In fact, hockey is not truly considered to be in that big four grouping any longer. Of course, a more accurate description of the sports climate might show that NASCAR and MMA have joined the NFL, NBA and MLB in that top tier. Hockey however is on the outside looking in, no longer enjoying the popularity it once did.

How did this happen to the NHL? Was it the entire season that was lost to the lockout that did this? No, that wasn't the reason, that lost year to the lockout was actually a symptom of the problem itself. The lockout was held because salaries were getting out of control and many franchises, outside of the most popular ones such as the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings, simply could not afford to keep paying as much to their players as they were.

They weren't making enough revenue to pull it off. Revenue is brought in for sports teams through several areas, the most important of which are television rights and ticket sales. As the popularity of the sport waned, these sources of income did as well. Therefore the lockout was a result of the problem, not the cause of the problem.

The lockout however certainly didn't help the situation. When hockey returned the next season they made a deal with the network known as OLN - now Versus - to broadcast their weekly national games. However that cable station reaches only a small fraction of the homes that the major networks reach. This means that hockey simply isn't viewable by a great deal of the population, leaving it in a spot where it can hardly increase its popularity.

There is also the problem that many fans think that hockey is a sport which doesn't lend itself well to the medium of television. Fans prefer to watch hockey games in person; and NHL games are often sold out. However, hockey fans think that some of the speed and the finesse of the sport are lacking in televised games. Sadly, this has led to hockey being harder and harder to watch at all and there are a lot of people who may never know just what they're missing.

While it has slipped from the top four and there are some problems which need to be ironed out to truly convey all of the action and excitement of NHL hockey on TV, if the league can find a new broadcast carrier with a larger market share, it may still be able to return to its former status as one of the most important American sports. The NHL may be down, but it's too early to count it out just yet.

Be Careful, Don't Get The Wrong Ski or Snowboarding Goggles

Whether you are new to skiing or snowboarding or not, one of the essential pieces of equipment you MUST have are a decent pair of ski/snowboarding goggles. Buying wisely can provide that extra protection while shielding the eyes against harmful UV rays. To me, there is no question that you should have specialist goggles to protect your eyes, sunglasses certainly would not be sufficient. It is important that you don't just go for high fashion, as there are a few things you should think about first.

One advantage of goggles rather than sunglasses is that most have anti-misting and venting properties. This is particularly useful if you are a beginner as you are more likely to fall causing more misting of the lenses. Peripheral vision is also greatly improved with goggles rather than sunglasses (unless they are a wrap-around style). Goggles are also not a problem if you wear contact lenses or prescription glasses but you do need to make sure the goggles are large enough to accommodate your frames.

An important element you should look for when buying ski/snowboarding goggles must of course involve the lenses. You may intend to get polarised lenses but consider this carefully as they do have a negative side. Yes, they will reduce glare, but equally, they will reduce the ability to see any icy patches while skiing. The colour of the lenses you choose for your goggles should be determined by when you normally intend to use them. For example, yellow/orange tints will enhance the contrast and make it easier to pick out bumps or objects in the snow, however, they are best used in low to moderate light or foggy conditions. Dark green or bronze chrome lenses are more comfortable for very bright sunlight but would be disadvantageous in poorer light. Rose tints are also good for low-light conditions but if you intend to ski at night, you should choose clear lenses.

Designer ski and snowboarding goggles come in all sizes and at a wide variety of prices (for example, Electric and Oakley goggles can be found from around 70 pounds sterling, or Bloc goggles from a little over 25 and Spy around 80 sterling and above).

Your ski or snowboarding goggles should be a snug fit and are large enough to protect some of your face as well as your eyes from ice chips that may fly up. They should also be made of a soft flexible material and be held in place by strong wide straps to keep them safely in place. Don't forget to check that your new goggles have 100% UV (A and B) protection and remember that the darkness of the lens tint has nothing to do with how good the UV protection is.

Finally, don't forget to buy your ski or snowboarding goggles before you leave for your first trip as you will get a much better deal. Think carefully about when you are likely to use them and the possible light conditions. While regular skiers may tend to have goggles with more than one lens or multiple pairs, to begin with I would probably go for the yellow/orange option for their ability to improve contrast and because they work well in low to moderate lights.

Control Mosquitoes - Choose Repellents Wisely, Use Them Safely

Mosquitoes know when humans are nearby. Even from a distance they can sense the heat and carbon dioxide that we give off. The way mosquito repellents typically work is by masking those cues that attract mosquitoes. Because several important diseases are transmitted by mosquitoes, it's important to use a good mosquito repellent.

It's important to remember that mosquito repellents do not protect everyone equally. Many factors are involved including the type of mosquito and the age, sex, and level of activity of the person involved. Remember too that mosquito repellent only works on the surface to which it's applied directly.

One of the most effective repellents is DEET. Another good one is picaridin. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends these products because they work well and offer long lasting protection. DEET was first offered for sale in 1957 and has an excellent safety record.

The length of time you're outside can help you determine what concentration your mosquito repellent needs to be. If you're often outside 3-4 hours, you'll need a product with 20% or more of DEET for good protection. If you're typically outside for less than 3 hours, consider a product with less than 20% DEET or 7% picaridin. Products with more than 50% DEET do not offer any extra protection.

According to the Environmental Protection agency (EPA), when used according to directions, DEET does not present any health concerns and isn't classifiable as a human carcinogen. The CDC does not recommend combining DEET with sunscreen or using products that do combine the products. The American Academy of Pediatrics says DEET in concentrations below 30% is safe for children aged two months and older

Oil of lemon eucalyptus and IR3535 are two other active ingredients recommended by CDC. While they do provide good protection, they don't last as long as the higher concentrations of DEET. According to test done by EPA, oil of lemon eucalyptus provides about the same length of protection as the lower concentrations of DEET. Read the label of any product using this ingredient. Children less than 3 years of age should not be exposed to this ingredient.

In spite of widespread advertising, there is no scientific evidence that the ultrasonic mosquito repellent devices work. Current beliefs that eating garlic, vitamins, onions, or any other food can repel mosquitoes are not true. The portable mosquito traps that emit carbon dioxide are too new to have been thoroughly tested yet.

Here are the ground rules for using mosquito repellents safely: Read and follow the instructions on the label. Only apply these products to exposed skin. Don't use these products under clothing. Don't apply to cuts, wounds or rashes. Don't apply near eyes or mouth, and apply lightly around the ears. Don't allow children to apply these products. When you return indoors, wash with soap and water or bathe.

What It Is Like To Be A Beta Tester For Videogames

Being a video game job tester is not all it's cracked up to be. If you are considering taking on videogame job testing as a potential side career or a part-time job in addition to your day job, please read ahead for some information that not everyone knows. Here is some background to get you started.

Video games are developed in stages for good reason. The stage you are primarily concerned with is beta testing, while there is a thing called alpha testing that is mostly for in company testing only so you would not be testing the game for that stage. Beta testing is where the game is mostly finished, maybe a few parts are left out such as graphics refinement, online compatibility, and a few extras that don't affect the core of the gameplay but only add additional content to the user.

When you start to consider either quitting your day job or taking this on full time you should back off for a minute and consider a few tips before you go full out on this and suddenly realize down the road this was not meant to be. Personally I say go for it but at least keep your day job until you're confident you can do this a lot.

1. While video game testing can be a full-time job, I strongly suggest you do it as a part-time or just fit it into your schedule for only a few hours a day. Unless you just got fired, in which case this isn't such a bad idea for a few weeks or months.

2. This is NOT just playing video games for fun. It feels like a real job, where you have to work hard and very carefully in order to get the most dollars per hour. Beta testing involves finding all the glitches you can, by trying every possible combination of tactics. You can't just play through a game once, you need to go through every option, reload and save multiple times, etc.

3. The pay can be pretty good if you consider the fact that you don't need a real resume or a formal educational background to get into the industry. However a resume does help and having a good work ethic will keep you in the job and keep you earning money and not slacking off. You should probably have a day job or something else to keep your focus on while you attempt this career path.

4. So the good parts are? Well let me tell you. Considering how you don't need any former job, the pay's pretty good. I mean, you are playing video games, which if you love them is great! And you also get to do it at home, and YOU decide your hours. Which can be a burden or a relief if you have something else you need to concentrate on, for instance going to college or starting a business.

The Mapes Hotel: Lost Landmark Of Northern Nevada History

On a cold, gray morning in late January 2000, the historic Mapes Hotel in Reno was imploded by 75 pounds of explosives tucked into the art-deco structures support columns. The controlled demolition came despite years of effort by a number of groups within the community and nationally to preserve the building with lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots lobbying efforts.

While the logic and necessity of demolishing the Mapes is very questionable, one thing that is certain is that the hotel was an important part of Northern Nevada history. The opening of the Mapes in 1947 ushered in a new era in casino gambling, and changed the economy and way of life in Nevada forever. The Mapes was actually the first property in the country to combine a hotel, casino and live entertainment under the same roof. It also became the hotel of choice for celebrities staying in Northern Nevada. Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe stayed at The Mapes during the filming of 'The Misfits'. Joseph McCarthy, America's famed anti-Communist crusader, admitted to a reporter over cocktails in the Mapes Lounge that he really didn't have a list of Communists in the US despite his frequent and vitriolic insistence to the contrary.

In the 50s and 60s it became, along with Lake Tahoes Cal-Neva Lodge the place to be seen in Northern Nevada. The top floor, window-walled Sky Room showcased performances by the legends: Sinatra, Louis Prima, Mae West, Milton Berle, Sammy Davis, Jr., and the Marx Brothers among others. Subsequent years were not kind to downtown Reno but the Mapes prospered during the 60's and 70's. The hotel finally closed in 1982, due more to financial difficulties experienced by the Mapes family caused by one of their other Northern Nevada gaming properties than anything else.

Reno has yet to experience the sort of growth that has been seen in Southern Nevada, and for that reason the destruction of the Mapes is more open to debate than the hotel demolitions to the south. Even the demolition of The Sands"perhaps the most historically significant casino in the state"is hard to argue against given the inability of such a small property to compete in the current Las Vegas marketplace and in light of the value of the mid-strip real estate.

This is not the case in Reno, where land and buildings for development in virtually every casino area are abundant. The official reason that the Mapes had to come down was that the city needed the land"which sits along the banks of the Truckee River"to expand its riverside district of art galleries, restaurants and shops. The revitalization of downtown Reno is definitely needed and a legitimate goal, but at the same time it is hard to think that the Mapes was a barrier to this. Indeed, a number of proposals for redevelopment including office space, artists lofts and upscale senior housing would have probably served to enhance the livability of the downtown area. For whatever reason, the City Redevelopment Authority wouldn't approve any of the proposals and the fate of the Mapes was sealed.

The behavior of the City Redevelopment Authority throughout the process has come into question. Overlooking the Truckee River, the hotel was perfectly placed between the downtown casino area and the riverfront district. In 1996, the city purchased the htoel and began accepting proposals for redevelopment. Despite receiving a number of proposals that made sense both in terms of their financial workability and positive impact on the downtown area, the City Redevelopment Authority nixed all of them and insisted that the hotel be razed.

After the demolition of The Mapes Hotel, the lot remained vacant for almost a year until a temporary ice skating rink was constructed in the winter of 2001. The site now houses a permanent ice skating rink which, while not a bad use for the land, brings into question the insistence by the City Redevelopment Agency that none of the proposals to preserve the building were viable. Clearly, they had no specific plan or even general idea of what to do with the land but for some reason wanted to see the hotel come down. This has led to all manner of speculation, ranging from financial self interest to a rumor that the structure was 'haunted' and needed to be destroyed to forestall future paranormal activity in Washoe County. Whatever the reason, the city of Reno lost a valuable landmark of a more civilized era.

So, you have decided that you want to learn how to fish. There are several ways of learning, the hardest being trial and error. The best way is to find an instructor for one-on-one lessons.

1. Buy seasickness medication: If you're going to fish on the water, nothing is worse than having your fishing ruined by seasickness. Most seasickness medication e.g. Bonine is very good. Even expert fishermen are known to take some on rough days. Take one before you go to sleep, another when you wake up and a third one before you go on board.

2. Buy a reference book: There are a lot of good books available at your local bookstores or online. The book ought to give you instructions as well as terms and definitions. There are some things you may not immediately understand but that you have to know anyway. For example, learn how to tie different kinds of knots. However, maybe you now want to consider other types or / and makes of reels. Ideally you have already met other fishermen and perhaps made a friend or two who can assist you in selecting a reel. You could even ask a tackle store owner for tips.

Firstly, you ought to learn the mechanics of the reel and the other equipment. Learning to cast, tie knots and bait is not really all that complicated. Secondly, you must learn where to fish. Successful fishermen know where the fish are located. Bobby Hull: The Golden Jet

'The Golden Jet' Bobby Hull was the most feared goal scorer of the 1960's and 1970's and arguably the greatest left wing to ever play professional hockey. Along with teammate Stan Mikita, Hull made the Chicago Blackhawks one of the NHLs true offensive powerhouses. He and Mikita were the first NHL players to use curved stick blades, which made his already wicked slapshot even more difficult to stop. This was a very significant development in pro hockey, and now its rare to find a player that plays with the flat stick blade that was once commonplace before Hull and Mikita's revolutionary modification.

Hull was born and raised on a dairy farm near Belleville, Ontario. By his teenage years it was apparent that he was on a fast track to NHL stardom, and he joined the Chicago Blackhawks not long after his 18th birthday. He would finish second in the leagues rookie of the year balloting in his first season and within a couple of years would become one of the NHLs marquee superstars. By the third year in the league, he was already a fixture at the top of the goal and point scoring charts and would lead the Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup championship in 1961.

In 1966, Hull broke a hallowed NHL scoring mark by becoming the first player to net more than 50 goals in a season. His 51st goal broke the record of 50 goals held by Montreal Canadien greats Bernie Boom Boom Geoffrion and Maurice Rocket Richard. Hull would go on to score 54 goals in the 1966 and would surpass that mark by scoring 58 in 1968. These numbers arent surprising in light of his slapshots deadly speed and accuracy"Hulls shot was once clocked at a mind boggling 118 MPH!

In 1972, Hull signed a then unprecedented deal to jump to the upstart World Hockey Association (WHA). His compensation included a $1 million US signing bonus which all of the league's owners contributed to realizing the significance of landing Hull in terms of publicity and credibility.

The NHL attempted to prevent Hulls jump to the WHA via litigation, but eventually he would join the Winnipeg Jets and resume his offensive dominance. On a line with Swedish superstars Ulf Nilsson and Anders Hedberg called The Hot Line, he led the Jets to two league championship AVCO Cup victories. In 1977, he set a new professional hockey record with 77 goals in a season which surpassed Phil Espositos 1970-71 mark of 76 by a single goal.

Hull suffered from knee trouble throughout his career, and it eventually forced his retirement from hockey in 1979. He would play in a few games for the Whalers before calling it a career. With the exception of an abortive comeback attempt with the New York Rangers in 1981 that was the end of his professional hockey career.

Modern fans may be more familiar with Hulls third son, Brett Hull, who earned NHL superstar status in his own right. The Hulls are the only father/son combination to ever score 50 goals in an NHL season. Brett Hull wore his dads retired #9 in the final games, and will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

Hull is now 70 years old and splits his time between the Toronto area and Chicago where he serves as a PR ambassador for the Blackhawks organization. He is expected to formally induct his son into the Hall of Fame at the ceremonies later this summer.
